Wild Africa
Day 1
Welcome to the Bush
Your journey begins with arrival in Limpopo Province — the wild heart of South Africa. After a short transfer, you’ll arrive at a secluded lodge set within the Greater Makalali Private Nature Reserve, surrounded by untamed bush.
Tea overlooking the savannah, a relaxed introduction to the team, and a gentle walk around the lodge will help you ease into the rhythm of nature.
In the evening, you’ll head out on your first safari drive, followed by dinner around the fire beneath the southern sky. As the sounds of the night bush come alive, you’ll begin to learn how this ecosystem works, how to read its subtle signals, and what it means to truly become part of this living landscape.
Day 2
Safari & Birdlife
Early in the morning, you’ll set out on safari, with the chance to step out of the vehicle and follow animal tracks on foot while observing birds in their natural habitat.
During the day, you’ll take part in hands-on conservation work: setting up camera traps, monitoring wildlife, and discussing animal behavior with the rangers.
Later in the afternoon, a wildlife photography workshop will teach you how to capture movement and tell a story through your images.
The day ends with an aperitif by the waterhole, followed by a traditional dinner beneath the stars of the southern sky.
Day 3
Tracking Skills
The morning is dedicated to tracking. Together with your guide, you’ll learn how to read animal tracks, notice subtle changes in the landscape, and better understand wildlife behavior.
In the afternoon, you’ll practice using GPS and telemetry equipment, learning how to track animal movements and navigate through the bush.
In the evening, you’ll observe birds from a hide, enjoy a traditional braai dinner, and take part in a friendly challenge to identify different bird calls.
Day 4
Secrets of the Micro World
The morning begins with a safety briefing on firearm handling, followed by the “lion charge” test — a simulation designed to assess your reaction and composure under pressure.
Afterwards, you’ll head out on a safari focused on the plant life of the bush. You’ll discover how local trees are used for healing, protection, and navigation in the wild.
Later in the day, you’ll explore the fascinating world of invertebrates. Scorpions, spiders, and beetles may be small, but they play a vital role in Africa’s ecosystem.
In the evening, you’ll prepare for a night out in the bush under the stars, learning basic survival skills and listening to stories of the Shangaan people around the campfire.
Day 5
Time to Head Home
In the morning, you’ll head into the bush for a session on ethical conservation practices. It’s a quiet moment to reflect, ask questions, and take in your final impressions of Africa.
After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Hamba kahle — go well, until we meet again. You’ll leave with more than memories, carrying a lasting connection to this land and its living, fragile wilderness.
